Rekha immortalized Umrao Jaan for every moviegoer with her poignant protrayal of the despondent dancing girl in the movie Umrao Jaan in 1981. Now J P Dutta is going to create a new rendering of Muzaffar Ali's classic epic with Priyanka Chopra as his new heroine.

Why Priyanka? According to Dutta:

“Among the current heroines, I think she has the ‘It’ factor. She’s sensuous, graceful and a very good Kathak dancer. If she watches her steps, the sky’s the limit for her.”

But can Priyanka Chopra, the former Miss World, really dance her way into the hearts of those won first by Rekha? We'll have to watch and decide.
