The program is a double bill featuring accomplished Bharatanatyam dancer Sonali Skandan and the live music of the Akshara Percussion Ensemble led by AR Balaskandan. Sonali Skandan will present the timeless dance form of Bharatanatyam, known for its powerful rhythmic passages and dramatic mime. She will perform select items from her repertoire choreographed
by masters in the field. The Akshara Percussion Ensemble, a Carnatic music-based group will explore the melodic and rhythmic structure of this classical form by developing an exchange between violin and various percussion instruments. The group includes AR Balaskandan, Jonathan Singer, G. Balaganesh and Albey Roblejo and will present original compostions by AR Balaskandan.
