INDIAN CINEMA CELEBRATED WITH GANDHI, MY FATHER PREVIEW AND SHAH RUKH KAHN PROGRAM
FRIDAYS, JULY 27 AND AUGUST 10, 2007
As part of its ongoing series World Cinema Showcase, the Museum of the
Moving Image will present two special programs this summer celebrating
the vitality of Indian cinema. On Friday, July 27, at 7:30 p.m., the
Museum will present a special sneak preview of the new film Gandhi, My
Father, a dramatic feature about the legendary Indian leader's
relationship with his eldest son, by the acclaimed Indian theater
director Ferroz Abbas Khan. On Friday, August 10 at 7:30 p.m., in
conjunction with the release of her book King of Bollywood: Shah Rukh
Khan, author Anu Chopra will introduce Devdas, one of the most acclaimed Indian films in recent years, a popular 2002 Romeo-and-Juliet style epic starring Shah Rukh Khan. The films will be free with Museum admission.
World Cinema Showcase is an ongoing film series featuring contemporary
international films presented with support from the Independence
