Please join Asha for Education at our exclusive Kick-Off 2007 event as we highlight our new initiatives towards developing education for underprivileged children in India.

WHAT: Our Kick-Off 2007 event will highlight some of our organization's past achievements and outline events to be held in the new year such as: Asha Dinner Gala, 5K Run/Walk, Musical Concert, Marathon Program and a Comedy Show. Have some wine and hors d'oeuvres on us, gaze at Gallery ArtsIndia's contemporary art, try your luck to win scrumptious prizes from MINT in our raffle and groove to the cool sounds of Indian fusion music!

6:00-6:30pm: Registration

6:00-8:30pm: Wine and hors d'oeuvres will be served.
7:00-7:20pm: A presentation on Asha NYC/NJ and announcement of
2007's events.
7:30-7:50pm: Indian fusion music performance
7:50-8:30pm: Networking and wrap up.

Asha for Education is a volunteer run, secular, non profit organization that funds the education of underprivileged children in India. 100 % of our proceeds go directly towards supporting Asha projects in India. Asha for Education was ranked # 1 among "top-ten" slam dunk charities" by Charity Navigator in 2005.

Started in 1991 by students of UC Berkeley, Asha has blossomed into a worldwide organization totaling 66 chapters (45 in United States, 14 in India and 8 in Europe, Singapore, and Australia) and growing. Asha's 66 chapters have disbursed over $7.3 million to more than 385 projects.

The NYC/NJ chapter began in 1994 and has supported several key projects with focus on special needs, disabilities, infrastructure, formal and non-formal education, community based intervention and more. As a 100 % volunteer-run organization, Asha's fundraising efforts have been driven primarily through an aggressive grass-roots level fundraising program, with NYC/NJ chapter raising approximately $150,000 in 2006.
