"The family of film star Amitabh Bachchan, who is recuperating at a Mumbai hospital following an intestinal surgery, visited a famous temple to offer prayers for his speedy recovery here today.
Bachchan's wife, Jaya and son Abhishek prayed to the lord Ganesha at the city's Siddhi Vinayak Temple, and took "prasad" for Bachchan.
Bachchan was operated for treatment of 'diverticulitis of small intestine', a condition that causes inflammation and perforation of the small intestine on November 30, after he had complained of severe abdominal pain.
Bachchan has acted in more than 150 films and through the 1970s and 1980s churned out one hit after another, playing rebels, smugglers, vigilantes and other anti-establishment figures.
The silver-bearded actor, who is exhibited in wax at Madame Tussauds in London, still rides high in the popularity charts, appearing in several films and as host of the Indian version of the TV quiz show "Who Wants to be a Millionaire?" (ANI)"
