Pakistani earthquake spells solidarity

Pakistani film actress Meera, who just earlier this year was censored and mortally threatened for kissing on screen, is putting in a lot of effort to help the victims of the recent earthquake. She is giving Rs. 5 lakhs as well as starting a campaign where film stars and other artists would ride around in an open-truck, raising funds for the tragedy's victims.
She also mentioned that there will be a joint Indian and Pakistani movie stars' show held in Pakistan to raise further funds for the quake's victims. (according to some other sources this show may be in Delhi or Mumbai instead)
The earthquake centred in the Hind Kush mountains of Pakistan started on Saturday and sent tremors across South Asia, including parts of India as well as Afghanistan in its wake. The latest death toll has been confirmed as 23,000 and is expected to continue rising.
Elsewhere, other nations pull together to help the victims.
It is is sad that it takes tragic times like this to pull humanity together. But as they say, better late than never.
Until next time - Sumita Sheth
