ARUNDHATI ROY

The first Indian citizen to win the prestigious Booker Prize in 1987, Arundhati Roy won critical acclaim and fame when she wrote "The God of Small Things". Born in Kerala and trained as an architect at the Delhi School of Architecture, Roy's interest in social issues has found the author recently immersed in causes such as the anti-nuclear movement.
