PASSPORT, a Jazz CD

passport.jpgIn collaboration with Matt Geraghty, Satya Gummuluri has recently been part of the Matt Geraghty Project’s Passport CD. Recorded in Rio de Janiero, Chicago and New York City, the compositions owe their exploratory new music motifs and splashes to influences from India, Spain and Brazil.

The music and Satya’s voice get into you through a spiritual osmosis – pensive and pondering at some points, insistent and playful at others, the music may die away but it leaves its imprint on you, always hauntingly unforgettable.

The excellence of the musical execution is likely accentuated by the participation of 4 Grammy Winners on this CD, including 6-time Grammy Award winning drummer Paul Wertico (Pat Metheny) and Grammy Award winning harmonica player Howard Levy (Bela Fleck and the Fleckstones).

While the group has traveled abroad and around the US for performances of music from their CD as well as their unique improvisations, the CD itself has been receiving its fair share of appreciation: e.g. on the National Radio Review’s “Listen Here”, along with following their recent performances in New York City.

You can sample their music (as well as buy it) here. Their music is also on ITunes.
