The NYC Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, Queer Domestic Violence Taskforce Presents the Second Annual Conference on Intimate Partner and Domestic Violence Real Lives, 'Real Suvivors: From Policy to Practice'.
What: Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender and Queer (LGBTQ) community members gather with anti-violence advocates, activists, and survivors for the Second Annual Conference to address intimate partner and domestic violence within our communities. Scott Stringer, Manhattan Borough President, will deliver Opening Remarks.
When: Thursday, October 4, 2007, from 9:00am – 4:30pm.
Who: The New York City Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, Queer Domestic Violence Taskforce.
Where: The Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual & Transgender Community Center, 208 West 13th Street (between 7th & 8th Avenues), New York City, 10011
Why: “Real Lives, Real Survivors” will continue the frank and creative dialogue between LGBTQ individuals and their allies to the hopes of: fostering healing and empowerment for survivors; raising awareness of the dynamics of domestic violence in the context of LGBTQ relationships; and ensuring that services are informed by innovative, best-practice models. The Conference will also offer opportunities to strengthen coalitions between those present so that together we can work to end the root causes of domestic violence within our communities.
