From Canada to Kenya to New York, Qasim Virjee has come a long quarter of a century to finally arrive at our EGOiste status! Just the right kind of cool for this hot summer, he personifies the kind of desi that is worldly, sensitive and avant-garde. He is the guru of website design and development, and has consulted everyone from BBC1 Radio host Bobby Friction to Canadian Member of Parliament Rahim Jaffer. Qasim is also the publisher and founder of another nifty South Asian publication called Indian Electronica (hey, even we read it!). We're hoping to seduce him into writing something for EGO one day soon :)

Plus, he looks great - we love the hipster curly hair, the dark nerdy but sexy spectacles, the 70s clothing and the bemused thoughtful smile!

What do you do to earn and blow money?
-- I'm a web producer specializing in building online places for unique communities, so I make my money helping people come together, and I generally blow my money coming together with people! I love to travel and try to see friends, as well as make new ones, around the world as often as I can.

Who do you love to hate?
-- I don't hate anyone and shudder at the thought.

How do you indulge your decadent side?
-- I'll admit to bring somewhat of a spendthrift-I love to buy ethno-cultural artifacts as well as classic gentlemanly fineries such as fountain pens and such.. Like good espresso and dark chocolate from tiny little chocolatiers ;)

Do you think monogamy is outdated?
-- Definitely not, call me old-fashioned but even Krishna only played with gopis for so long yaar... I've got my own eye out for Radha!

What cocktail best describes your personality?
-- A Kenyan favorite called 'dawa' (eng. "medicine"), which is a delightful blend of sweetness (honey), refreshment (mint leaves + ice) and poignancy (vodka).

If you could go back in time and take credit for any piece of work, what would it be?
-- In a fleeting moment of vain geekdom I might want to be accredited with inventing India's beloved auto, the Ambassador. Or at least, coming up with its name!

Who is your favorite icon- fashion, entertainment, etc?
-- I don't think its healthy to aspire to just one person?s characteristics and haven't got a particular favourite, so I'll name a couple of amiable chaps I think are iconic - As an overall good character, I have to name the Aga Khan (philanthropist and leader of Ismaili Muslims) - for namely his commitment to bettering the living standards as well as the capacity to acquire and apply knowledge, of all people. Musically, Prince's ingenuity in the realm of entertainment amazes me and I think right now I'm quite digging Shantanu Goenka's refreshing take on female couture.

What makes you fabulous enough to be person of the week?
-- You asking me these questions! It's been lovely and be sure to keep up to date with my goings on my website. I also recommend checking out Indian Electronica, my magazine showcasing Arts/Culture of the world's South Asian Diaspora!
